LaTeX IDE for Ubuntu

What are your suggestions for a good LaTeX IDE for Ubuntu? I used to use LEd (http://www.latexeditor.org/) on Windows, but they don't seem to have a version for Linux. LEd was really good -- especially its autocompletion and command help as well as the way it kept track of labels and citations. For instance the moment we type \cite it gives a popup window showing all the bibitem labels. Similarly with \ref. There was no need to worry about the syntax of any given LaTeX command, the moment a command is written (for instance \begin{itemize}) a  popup window shows all the different forms and a brief description of the command.

Any such editors for Ubuntu?

Thanks in advance

vim Smiley

You were probably expecting this! I have never used LEd, so can't really compare with that; but with the vim-latex plugin installed, most of the features you mention (and some more) are available.

Re: LaTeX IDE for Ubuntu

Looks interesting; but could not specifically locate how/where it manages labels and citations. I'm growing old and may require a little more support than a vim plugin though.Wink Was just checking out kile (http://kile.sourceforge.net/) looks interesting, but optimized for kde.

Re: LaTeX IDE for Ubuntu

For non KDE users, use Winefish. Its got autocomplete and even a one touch generation mechanism, so you dont have to run latex commands on the terminal.
http://winefish.berlios.de/ Its available on ubuntu and repositories of other popular distros. For the rest, check out from svn.

Texmaker is pretty good too. But I don't know if it's better than Winefish and Kile.

Re: LaTeX IDE for Ubuntu

This might be a bit late...

I use the LaTeX toolbar plugin for gedit. But it needs "rubber" pre-installed.
